Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Daniele Gatti at Kulturpalast Dresden

About the Event

Founded in 1986/87 at the initiative of Claudio Abbado, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester is one of the best international youth orchestras. The highly talented young instrumentalists work with the celebrated conductors and soloists of our times, appearing on the world’s leading stages. The orchestra’s postponed concert at the Dresden Music Festival, originally scheduled for 2021, will take place under the baton of Daniele Gatti, the designated chief conductor of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. Together with the young musicians, he will present two characteristic works by the orchestra’s namesake: the Adagio from the unfinished Tenth Symphony by Gustav Mahler as well as his Symphony No. 1, already marked by the strong contrasts typical for his music.
