About the Event

In honor of the Austrian composer's bicentennial, Ingo Metzmacher and the Gustav Mahler Jugendochester present Bruckner's grand and profound Third Symphony. Bruckner dedicated the work to his idol Wagner.

Conductor: Ingo Metzmacher

Ingo Metzmacher (born 10 November 1957 in Hanover) is a German conductor. From 1997 to 2005 he served as director of the Hamburg State Opera. In 2007 he is scheduled to assume the post of Principal Conductor of the Deutsches Symphonie‐Orchester Berlin.

The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester was founded by Claudio Abbado in 1986 and many of its former members continue with a musical career in renowned orchestras such as the Wiener or Berliner Philharmoniker.
