The art of polyphony in Notre-Dame from the 11th to the 16th century

The innovative and radiant École de Notre-Dame is part of a progression of polyphonic language. Starting from monodic Gregorian chant, the basis of all western sacred music in the Middle Ages, this concert illustrates the birth and development of polyphony in Notre-Dame de Paris: French polyphonies in the 11th century, Notre-Dame School in the 12th-13th centuries, Ars Nova in the 14th and Renaissance polyphonies in the 15th and 16th centuries.
