Gran Teatre del Liceu: Tosca

There are currently no dates available for this event.

Paco Azorín's production of Giacomo Puccini's opera returns to the Liceu. Hate, love, passion, violence and religion come together in this masterpiece by the composer from Lucca. Living for art and dying for love are the two constants of Tosca, the perfect visceral triangle between Cavaradossi, Tosca and Scarpia, in the context of the turbulent times of Rome invaded by Napoleon. 'I don't choose to provide an epic monumentality, but rather to give prominence to the singers, always bringing them closer to the audience', declared the stage designer and stage director Paco Azorín with regard to this staging, which is scrupulously faithful to the original and demonstrates the validity and modernity of the Puccinian title. Brilliant cast for one of the most famous and performed operas of the Italian repertoire, with musical direction by John Fiore.
