Good Friday concert

About the Event

Explore the beauty of classical music at Konzerthaus Berlin, where masterworks by Wagner and Gubaidulina come to life in this incredible performance.

The third act of Richard Wagner's 'Parsifal' is set on a Good Friday. According to the composer, the opera was intended to have a 'rapturous effect on the mind'. But even those who have no connection to Christian mysticism and the work's artistically exaggerated message of redemption can enjoy two wonderful instrumental pieces by the opera composer, the 'Prelude' and the 'Good Friday Magic.'

Bach's 'Musical Sacrifice' and Webern's handling of tonal colors inspired Sofia Gubaidulina to her 'Offertorium,' which is imbued with Christian religiosity and which she wrote for the violinist Gidon Kremer in 1980 and which Daniel Hope interprets for us.
