About the Event
As the violinist, artistic director and founder of Kremerata Baltica, Gidon Kremer is one of the most innovative musicians of his generation – and known for his impressively uncompromising attitude.
The first part pays homage to Astor Piazzolla, one of Kremer’s favourite composers, while the second part is inspired by another one of the musician’s great loves: circus. Thus, the Schauspielhaus becomes the venue for a chamber music show featuring the musicians alongside the clown Robert Wicke, of Circus Roncalli fame, inspiring awe, curiosity and laughter. The show is accompanied by film scores by Mieczysław Weinberg, a composer whose ongoing rediscovery is largely due to Kremer’s efforts.
