Gerstein, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Harfding at Kulturpalast Dresden

About the Event

This year’s piano focus would be unthinkable without one of the most important romantic piano concerti: for the first time in history, Brahms’ Concerto in B‐flat‐major did not present the solo part and the orchestra in the conventional competition, but complementing each other in one symphonic whole. This will be interpreted by Kirill Gerstein, who has become a fixture on the world’s great concert stages since winning the gold medal at the renowned Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2001. Schumann’s overture to »Manfred« and Dvořák‘s »The Wood Dove« are two more romantic works of great atmospheric density, all in the extremely capable hands of Daniel Harding and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
