Gala Concert Residence Munich
Munich, Allerheiligen Hofkirche — Main Hall
About the Event
At the 'Gala Concert Residence Munich', you can experience selected works of classical music.
The Residenz Gala Concerts are musical journeys through time, accompanied by famous paintings on a large screen in the historically significant Allerheiligen‐Hofkirche.
The Allerheiligen‐Hofkirche, built between 1826 and 1837, was commissioned by Ludwig I., following the example of the palace chapel of Palermo. His architect Klenze — enthusiastic about St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice — also took inspiration for his design here.
Program
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Don Giovanni – Overture 'Don Giovanni'
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Requiem
Artists
| Ensemble: | Residenz‐Solisten Drawn from Munich's top orchestras, the Residenz Solisten have been the resident musicians of Munich's exquisite palace for over twenty years. Works ranging from Vivaldi to Gershwin fill the air with music in the Residenzschloss' famous Cuvilliés Theatre, site of the premiere of Idomeneo in 1781, the Allerheiligen Court Chapel and Herkulessaal, among other exquisite venues, or at the Nymphenburg Palace, echoing the musical tradition of a court that welcomed such performers as the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself. Karsten Gebhardt leads his musicians in over 40 concerts between Christmas and New Year, with further regular performances delighting audiences throughout the year. |
