Festive brass Christmas Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra at Konzerthaus Berlin
Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin — Großer Saal
About the Event
It is a magical moment when the air flows through 30 woodwind and brass instruments and a rich, festive and brilliant sound unfolds. Enjoy this moment at the Christmas concert of the Saxon Wind Philharmonic and its special symphonic wind ensemble, which is unique in the German orchestral landscape.
Since the orchestra was founded in 1950 under the name 'Rundfunk‐ Blasorchester Leipzig', it has developed a unique sound philosophy that surprises with new, fascinating timbres and captivates the audience. The Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie is in demand in Europe and overseas and was awarded the OPUS KLASSIK, the successor prize to the ECHO Klassik, as Ensemble of the Year 2023 last fall. This is a wonderful occasion to invite this extraordinary orchestra to the Berlin Konzerthaus on Boxing Day.
Festive works by Bach, Gabrieli, Humperdinck, Wagner, Handel, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn‐Bartholdy, among others, will be performed at the Berlin Konzerthaus. Chief conductor Peter Sommerer will charmingly lead through the evening.
