Eva Yerbabuena, a dynamic and ever‐evolving dancer, is always on the move. With her creativity fueled by the art of flamenco, she recently found herself in the empty space where her house once stood. This space, where memories blend with dreams, hopes, and fantasies, makes us ponder the possibilities that might have been, or perhaps were only illusions.
Born in Frankfurt but raised in Granada from a young age, Eva Yerbabuena dances with a raw and essential energy. She fearlessly continues to push boundaries and take risks. As the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, such as the National Dance Award and the "Giraldilla" for Best Dancer, she has played a significant role in the evolution of flamenco. Influenced by her experiences with renowned choreographer Pina Bausch, Eva brings a contemporary touch to the genre.
In her latest show, "Al igual que tú", Eva presents a diverse range of elements. Alongside flamenco, there is the contemporary dance of Fernando Suels, Latin American music such as Chico Buarque's "La llorona" and "Construcción", and even opera arias like Bellini's "Casta Diva". These different elements coexist with traditional flamenco styles like seguiriyas or bulerías por soleás. The musical direction is skillfully handled by guitarist Paco Jarana, with the powerful vocals of Luis Moneo and Sandra Carrasco.
Eva Yerbabuena, always curious and full of passion, constantly seeks answers to the essential question that was instilled in her by Pina Bausch: it's not just about how we dance, but rather the driving force behind it.
