Eugene Onegin: Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

About the Event

Remember the pangs of first love, and the pain of love rejected in Tchaikovsky's beloved setting of Pushkin's classic narrative. Robert Carsen's acclaimed production comes to Rome, lead by acclaimed conductor James Conlon and a star‐studded cast including Saimir Pirgu, Maria Baiankina, John Relyea, and Markus Werba in the titular role.

Romantic and sheltered, the young Tatyana unwisely declares her love to the fashionably jaded Eugene Onegin, and is shattered when he rejects her. Onegin's actions have wider consequences, and it is only when they meet again, a decade later, that Onegin realises the value of the heart he thoughtlessly discarded. The score contains some of Tchaikovsky's most impassioned music, and opera fans are sure to seize the opportunity to see this celebrated production once again.

Sung in Russian with Italian and english surtitles
