Dueñas, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Blomstedt at Kulturpalast Dresden

About the Event

Experience and maturity meet youthful exuberance! The Swede Herbert Blomstedt – an exceptional conductor in every way – will be almost 96 when he conducts this programme. The soloist performing with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Andalusian‐born violinist María Dueñas, a former junior student at the Dresden Music Academy, will just have turned 20 at that point. This matinee will show how fruitful such collaborations can be when they interpret Beethoven’s thrilling Violin Concerto. This will be followed by Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony, inspired by a voyage to Scotland, but only completed in 1842, and often considered his most important symphonic work.
