About the Event

Experience the enchanting melodies of classical music by renowned composers Edvard Grieg, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel, and Karol Maciej Szymanowski at the prestigious Palais im Großen Garten in Dresden. This highly‐anticipated concert promises a captivating musical journey that showcases the immense talent and passion of violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing.

Born in Norway in 1990, Hemsing has carved a successful career on the international concert stage. However, what sets her apart is her deep connection to her homeland and her profound love for Nordic music. This profound bond is evident not only in her repertoire choices but also in her commitment to promoting Nordic music through the Hemsing Festival, which she co‐organizes with her sister Ragnhild since 2013.

Having released four albums, Hemsing's musical prowess shines through her highly acclaimed Sony Classical debut, 'Arctic,' released in February 2023. This album pays homage to the musical riches of the Arctic with breathtaking compositions by contemporary artists. For her concert at the Palais im Großen Garten, Hemsing will transport the audience to warmer climes, taking them on a musical journey accompanied by the exceptional Russian pianist, Alexei Volodin.

The concert program includes two virtuoso classics of the duo literature: Fauré's Violin Sonata No. 1 and Ravel's 'Tzigane.' Adding an impressionistic touch, Szymanowski's 'Mythes' weaves an enchanting tapestry of sound. Naturally, the program also features a work by Hemsing's compatriot, Edvard Grieg. His exuberantly joyful Second Violin Sonata, composed during his honeymoon, radiates warmth and happiness.

Don't miss this highly‐anticipated concert, where Hemsing and Volodin's musical artistry will transport you to a world of beauty and emotion. Immerse yourself in the mellifluous sounds of classical music and witness the magic unfold at the Palais im Großen Garten in Dresden.
