Dmitrij Kitajenko & Konzerthausorchester Berlin: Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Strauss

About the Event

Dmitrij Kitajenko leads the Berlin Konzerthausorchester in an eclectic program of high Romanticism including Prokofiev's ethereal Violin Concerto No. 1, featuring Sergej Krylow, as well as works by Shostakovich and Strauss at Konzerthaus Berlin.

Opening the program is Shostakovich's First Symphony: combining liveliness and wit with drama and tragedy, it endures as one of Shostakovich's finest works even though the composer was only 19 years old at its completion. Strauss's Overture to his opera 'Der Rosenkavalier' closes the evening out with a suitable flourish.
