Die Lustige Witwe: Oper in der Krypta

About the Event

Franz Lehár's world‐famous operetta hits like the 'Viljalied', 'Da geh' ich zu Maxim' or 'Wie eine Rosenknospe' are presented by the Austrian ensemble Oper@Tee in an original, witty and lively way.

Count Danilo meets his former lover Hannah again at a ball of the Paris embassy of the small state of Pontevedrino. Political and emotional confusion and aberrations in the tumult of the ball accompanied by Franz Lehár's effective waltz sounds provide charming and dramatic entertainment.

The well‐known ensemble plays the famous work with piano accompaniment directly before and between the audience. Stage and audience are on the same level. The fascinating closeness to the artists creates an exchange of energy that touches both sides and leaves unforgettable impressions behind.

Established as the smallest opera and operetta theatre in Austria, the performances in the crypt impress with their intensity, high quality and, of course, the unusual venue. Situated deep below St. Peter's Church in Vienna, the intimate hall offers personal experience like no other theatre.

The crypt is pleasantly tempered at any time of the year.
