Palau de la Música Catalana: DiDonato & Il Pomo d’Oro – Eden

About the Event

Experience Joyce DiDonato at the famous Pala de la Musica Catalana.

Joyce DiDonato, who was born in Kansas and now lives in Barcelona, has become one of the most popular singers with the public in Barcelona. She is the winner of several Grammy Awards and the 2018 Olivier Prize for Excellence in Opera. The New Yorker has called her 'perhaps the strongest singer of her generation,' while her voice has been described by The Times as 'nothing less than 24‐carat gold.' With rave reviews, she has established herself as a leading interpreter of operas by Handel and Mozart, and has an extensive and acclaimed discography of roles in bel canto works by Rossini and Donizetti.

Joyce DiDonato will present her album 'Eden' live, a very personal journey from Baroque to contemporary compositions by Portman. The album includes works by Cavalli, Gluck, Copland, Mahler and Wagner, and is inspired by the exuberant rebirth of nature after human life came to a halt during the first months of the pandemic. A parenthesis for nature, with joyful appreciation of nature, sustainability and ecology as the guiding principles.

In this musical project Joyce DiDonato will be accompanied by the ensemble Il Pomo d'Oro, which under the direction of Maxim Emelyanychev has become one of the world's leading ensembles for baroque repertoire.
