About the Event

Oceane is based on the idea of a mysterious woman from the sea, attempting to fit into the human society. Theodor Fontane wrote this opera and managed to encapsulate the sense of our male‐dominated society faced with femininity on the raise. The opera tells the story of Oceane’s inability to understand human destinies as well as her passionate and tragic relationship with Martin von Diercksen.
