About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Berlin's breathtaking Konzerthaus (Kleiner Saal) Berlin for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of classical music.
A singer and drummer, a clarinettist and a pianist. All three love American swing from the thirties, all three are virtuosos on their instruments. With its new programme 'We Got Rhythm', the DAVID HERMLIN TRIO recalls the great combo formations of the swing era, above all, of course, the revolutionary Benny Goodman Trio with pianist Teddy Wilson and drummer Gene Krupa. The musicians around DAVID HERMLIN refrain from any attempt to copy their idols, but develop their own lively style. They play music, sing and even dance.
David Hermlin's sister RACHEL HERMLIN, who — like her brother — is the star of the 'Swing Dance Orchestra' led by her father ANDREJ HERMLIN, is also a guest. 'We Got Rhythm' is wonderful swing from 1930s America, immortal music from Goodman to Gershwin, performed in a way that is as enjoyable as it is lively. Keep Swingin!
The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall situated on the Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in the city. Built in 1821, the structure initially served as a theater. Severely damaged in the Second World War, it was rebuilt as a concert hall in 1977, with a neoclassical interior, and changed its name to reflect its new function in 1994.
Consistently numbered among the top five concert halls in the world, the Konzerthaus hosts around 500 performances every year, ranging from symphony and chamber concerts featuring international stars to new music and children's concerts.
