Danish String Quartet at Palais im Großen Garten Dresden

About the Event

The four unconventional gentlemen of the Danish String Quartet have been mixing up the string quartet scene for many years. The three founding members met as children in a summer camp, where they played football and made music together. In 2008 the Norwegian cellist Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin joined the three Danes. Ever since, these exceptional musicians have been conveying mutual friendship and joy in their playing. Their passion for Scandinavian composers will be evident at the Palais im Großen Garten as well, where they perform a string quartet written for the four musicians by the Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir. This work will be bookended by Schubert’s »Rosamunde« Quartet and a special arrangement of »Gretchen am Spinnrade«, reflecting the ensemble’s enthusiasm for unconventional, fresh interpretations.
