Listen to Advent a cappella masterpieces with the Company of Music. The finest a cappella culture meets the unique acoustics of the cathedral: an evening where silence becomes audible and the sounds of Advent become tangible.
In the pre‐Christmas atmosphere of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the singers of the Company of Music bring musical masterpieces from six centuries to life. Under the direction of Johannes Hiemetsberger, the soloist vocal ensemble presents an exciting programme ranging from early Baroque to the present day, with works by Arvo Pärt, Gustav Holst, Morten Lauridsen, Thomas Tallis, Samuel Scheidt and others.
The Company of Music is Vienna's professional vocal soloist ensemble and stands for a unique combination of programmatic creativity, vocal excellence, stylistic openness and musical joy – all in close proximity to its audience. As Austria's ‘vocal orchestra’ based at the Wiener Konzerthaus, the ensemble, founded in 2002 by Johannes Hiemetsberger, is now firmly established in the domestic and international concert scene.
