The Concert and Its Program
The Imperial Gala Concert features a “best‐of” program of classical music, highlighting timeless masterpieces from the golden age of Viennese music. Each selection is carefully curated from works by iconic composers tied closely to Palais Auersperg:
• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Enjoy pieces like Eine kleine Nachtmusik and the famous “Queen of the Night” aria from The Magic Flute. In 1786, Mozart conducted the Viennese premiere of Idomeneo right at Palais Auersperg.
• Johann Strauss II: Known as the “Waltz King,” Strauss often performed at Palais Auersperg. The concert honors his lively spirit with waltzes, polkas, and marches, including The Blue Danube, the Emperor Waltz, the Radetzky March, and more.
• Antonio Vivaldi: Revel in excerpts from the Baroque master’s most renowned work, The Four Seasons.
• Other Masters: The program includes musical treasures by Johann Pachelbel, Franz Lehár, and other great composers, creating a unique musical journey through time.
The performance lasts about 90 minutes, with a 15‐minute intermission. A charming, witty, and knowledgeable English‐speaking host guides the audience through the evening. Alongside the orchestra, internationally acclaimed sopranos, pianists, and the Vienna Royal Ballet perform, presenting exclusive choreographies set to the music.
The Orchestra: A Hand‐Picked Ensemble of Soloists
The masterpieces are performed by the soloists of the Wiener Mozart Orchester, a meticulously curated ensemble representing Vienna’s musical elite. With their virtuosity, the unmistakable “Viennese sound,” and their spirited interpretations, they breathe life into Viennese Classicism.
