Volksoper Wien: Le nozze di Figaro
Vienna, Volksoper Wien — Main Hall
About the Event
Experience the enchantment of classical music with an unforgettable performance of Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro' at Vienna's extraordinary Volksoper Wien.
Figaro, a servant of the count, is betrothed to Susanna, the maid of the countess. The count is pursuing Susanna, while the countess endures her husband's unfaithfulness. Figaro devises a clever scheme to put the count in his place. After a 'great day' (the subtitle of Beaumarchais' original play) filled with disguises, misunderstandings, and amusing entanglements, Figaro wins Susanna, and the count is left with no option but to apologize to the countess.
Lotte de Beer's production shines a light on the themes of sex and power from the viewpoints of various characters. Throughout the opera's four acts, the world is seen from different perspectives: the Count, Susanna, the Countess, and Barbarina.
