HK Gruber's Tales from the Vienna Wood: Theater an der Wien
About the Event
HK Gruber brings a scathing 1930's play back to life.
Austrian composer Gruber conducts his own new opera, setting Ödön von Horváth's "folk tale" to music. The original play mocked the prejudices and narrow‐mindedness of the Viennese bourgeoisie, but Gruber and his director and librettist Michael Sturminger know that people like those are still around and the new opera pulls few punches.
