Chopin – Mozart – Liszt: Piano Concerto at the Crypt
Vienna, Peterskirche — Krypta
About the Event
Chopin quote: “Play Mozart in my memory—and I will hear you.” His admiration for Mozart and other composers influenced his works.
“I would like to learn from him the way he interprets my works.” This demonstrated Chopin’s respect for Liszt’s technique, even though he rejected Liszt’s improvisations on his own nocturnes.
Mario Eritreo combines these fascinating aspects into a sensational piano concert that brings the subtleties and idiosyncrasies of the composers to life.
The Italian pianist and organist is one of Europe’s most sought‐after artists. In 2016, he performed the complete cycle of J.S. Bach’s six organ sonatas at St. Peter’s Church in Vienna—a feat achieved by only three other artists to date. Mario Eritreo collaborates with Europe’s most renowned orchestras and is particularly sought after for his keen sensitivity to the nuances of the compositions. A master of his craft, he is just as at home in large concert halls as he is in the intimate setting of the Crypt Concerts.
The Crypt maintains a pleasant temperature year‐round.
