Teatro Filarmonico di Verona: Salieri's La Passione
Verona, Teatro Filarmonico — main
About the Event
Immerse yourself in an unparalleled classical music experience with masterworks by Antonio Salieri at the historic Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. Commemorating the bicentennial of Antonio Salieri (1750‐1825), this will be performed by the celebrated artistic ensembles of the Fondazione Arena, presenting a spectacular rendition of The Passion of Jesus Christ. This profound oratorio, penned by Salieri at the young age of 26, makes a triumphant return to Verona on Good Friday, three decades after its rediscovery in this iconic city. The timeless libretto by the renowned Metastasio, which has been musically interpreted by more than seventy composers through the ages, achieved its most expressive form with Salieri’s composition, as reportedly praised by Metastasio himself to Emperor Joseph II during its debut.
