In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music from Baroque to Romantic music by Vivaldi, Mascagni, Rossini and others played on original plucked instruments at Venice's treasured and world‐renowned St. George's Anglican Church.
In the splendid setting of the Anglican Church of St. George in Venice, the MandolinVenice Ensemble proposes a musical journey through the history of classical Italian music, from Vivaldi to Rossini, interpreted by the evocative sound of mandolins. The concert will feature original pieces for this ensemble as well as auteur transcriptions that will trace an ideal trajectory to discover the most sublime melodies ever written for this instrument, in an experience that promises to touch the heart and soul.

This small ensemble was a real find and a great evening entertainment while we were holidaying in Venice. The group ranges in number from a quartet to an octet and all are consummate musicians playing mandolin, mandolin and guitar. The intimate setting meant that we could follow every instrument withe clarity. The control of dynamics especially at pp gave a wonderful delicacy and the tasteful use of rubato breathed life into the music. The nicely varied repertoire was mostly from the romantic era, where the mandolin attained its truly unique voice. We appreciated the insightful commentary which was also kindly translated into English for us. I took my two children to this concert and was not sure how they would react but both loved it! I was disappointed that more people did not attend this concert since this ensemble really deserves more recognition. In summary we had a wonderful experience and I bought the CD.
