Flamenco choreographer Ben Van Cauwenbergh, once principal soloist alongside Rudolf Nureyev at English National Ballet, conceived, while directing Aalto Ballet Essen, a *Swan Lake* that restores the famous ballet’s most powerful essence: tradition as a living language. Faithful to Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, his version blends classical aesthetics with subtle contemporary touches—a demonstration that beauty needs no artifice. This internationally touring production, acclaimed worldwide, features the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in Les Arts’ pit, performing Tchaikovsky’s unmistakable, dreamlike score.
