Meritxell Barberá and Inma García reinterpret The House of Bernarda Alba through contemporary dance in Las Hijas de Bernarda, focusing on the conflict between authority and freedom, rendering Bernarda invisible to highlight the physical and emotional confinement of her five daughters. Inspired by Mats Ek's historic version (1978) and, with their own unique perspective, the creators of Taiat Dansa offer a stage piece that fuses dance, live music, theatre, film, installation and visual art. The work combines original texts and fragments by Lorca, with a proposal that evokes a contemporary opera where choreography is the main focus. Singing, spoken word, flamenco, orchestral and modern music, composed by David Barberá, are integrated in a tribute to Andalusian folklore and Lorca's artistic sensibility.
