Many music lovers remember Camilla Nylund’s extraordinary Salome, conducted by Zubin Mehta in 2010. Years later, she sang the first act of Die Walküre and the Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde in the Auditori, reaffirming her place among her generation’s most respected Wagnerian and Straussian sopranos. Equally devoted to Lied, the Finnish artist now brings a voice to interpretative maturity that recent critics say “sounds at its very best.” Strauss remains central to her repertoire and the source of her finest sensitivity and expression. Sibelius, reflecting her homeland’s culture, and selected Dvořák cycles complete this portrait of a great voice, accompanied by Helmut Deutsch’s musical intelligence and evocative piano artistry.
