Opera Valencia: Händel's Orlando (concert version)
Valencia, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia — Sala Principal
About the Event
Immerse yourself in a captivating evening of classical music with 'Händel's Orlando at the esteemed Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia.
This season, Marc Minkowski continues his collaboration with Les Arts, bringing back his period instrument ensemble, Les Musiciens du Louvre. Following the memorable performances of Mitridate and Alcina, Händel's Orlando takes the stage, featuring remarkable voices. Among them is the young French mezzo Aude Extrémo, whose rich, dark timbre perfectly captures the protagonist's tragic and passionate nature. The role of Angelica, compassionate yet resolute in spurning Orlando's love, is sung by soprano Ana Maria Labin, noted for her Baroque and Mozart interpretations and her ongoing work with Minkowski. Ukranian countertenor Yuriy Mynenko, a Handel opera specialist familiar to audiences from the Salzburg Festival and Concertgebouw, portrays Angelica's beloved Medoro.
