Opera Valencia: Gustavo Gimeno
Valencia, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia — Auditori
About the Event
Experience an unforgettable evening of classical music at Valencia's renowned Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia.
Gustavo Gimeno concludes the OCV's symphonic cycle with The Firebird, completing his conducting of Stravinsky's famed ballet trilogy at Les Arts. In the first part, French mezzo‐soprano Marianne Crebassa enchants with Falla's Seven Spanish Folk Songs, following Ravel's Rapsodie espagnole. The Firebird initiated Stravinsky's collaboration with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in Paris. This piece marked the peak of his early period, influenced by his contemporaries, notably his mentor Rimsky‐Korsakov and the French Impressionists—seen in the colorful orchestration and sensuality—and the evolution of his style, with its sharp rhythms and distinct fragmented melodic motifs.
