At Valencia’s Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, architecture and music converge in an evening exploring the luminous sound worlds of Claude Debussy and Ernest Chausson.
Among Les Arts’ new guest conductors this season is Finnish maestro Mikko Franck, a leading figure on today’s musical scene. He works with the world’s foremost orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A perfectionist, his musical sensitivity, clarity and power to move audiences set him apart from his generation’s conductors. At just twenty‐seven, it is no surprise the Finnish National Opera recognised his exceptional talent, appointing him General Music Director. For the past ten seasons, he has led the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France as Music Director, expanding its substantial discography and repertoire. He is especially drawn to post‐Romantic composers, Sibelius’s world and, above all, French music, particularly Debussy and Ravel.
