About the Event
An exceptional Italian‐style concert illuminated by candle glow, capturing the atmosphere of true Italian music through the most iconic songs of the king of classic American pop — Frank Sinatra. The American singer and actor had Sicilian roots, and traces of Italian melodies — often drawn from classical music — can be heard throughout his work. This is why the program also features some of the most beautiful opera arias.
Sicily was also home to the outstanding bel canto composer Vincenzo Bellini, whose most famous arias will appear in the repertoire. There will also be film music referencing the artist’s rumored — though never fully proven — connections to the Sicilian mafia.
On stage, opera singers from the Opera da Camera di Roma will perform with piano accompaniment, transporting the audience to the refined concert world of the nineteenth century, when classical music held the same status as today’s pop. Within the elegant and sophisticated interiors of Poland’s most beautiful palace and castle concert halls, audiences will experience innovative and unique arrangements of Frank Sinatra’s works in operatic and jazz styles.
Historic venues illuminated by candle glow evoke the ambiance of aristocratic salons as well as Roman opera houses — the place where the idea for this concert was born. Intimate spaces and unique acoustic qualities are available only to a limited audience, due to the extraordinary acoustics yet small seating capacities of these venues.
Frank Sinatra’s Musical Biography premiered at the Słowacki Theatre in 2013 and was performed for many years across Europe. Now, in a new form, it is part of a 2025 European concert tour in cities such as Berlin, Rome, Paris, Milan, Prague, and Vienna. For the first time in Poland, it will be presented in a truly Italian, unique edition — in halls where time seems to have stopped and the music never ceased to resonate.
