Yannick Nézet‐Séguin, Alexandre Kantorow at Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
An international opening program — with music from France, Finland and Canada. The composer Barbara Assiginaak takes up the traditions of the Canadian Anishinabe in her works. In his second symphony, Sibelius sings a heroic song of his Finnish homeland. In contrast, the French composers Ravel and Saint‐Saëns set out on a journey in their fantasies. In “La Valse”, Ravel portrayed the city of Vienna, while Saint‐Saëns paid homage to both the German Baroque and Italian folk dance in his second piano concerto.
