About the Event

Willem Brons Presents is a series that aims to showcase the new generation of pianists to the public. It features talented individuals who have previously participated in Brons' international master class. As part of the series, three former participants will be performing a full recital on Sunday afternoon in De Waalse Kerk. Willem Brons himself will introduce the pianists and their repertoire. Violetta Khachikyan, a highly acclaimed artist known for her beautiful tone and brilliant instrumental virtuosity, will have the honor of opening the second season of Willem Brons Presents.

Violetta Khachikyan is a versatile pianist with a wide range of musical interests. In addition to playing romantic composers and baroque music, she also enjoys performing twentieth‐century and new music, as well as jazz and tango. Violetta's exceptional talent has been widely recognized, winning her several prizes at international piano competitions. Some of her notable achievements include first prize, audience prize, and two special prizes at the Bremen International Piano Competition, as well as success at the Helsinki International Maj Lind Piano Competition, the Scottish International Competition in Glasgow, the George Enescu International Piano Competition Bucharest, and the International Paderewski Competition. She has collaborated with renowned symphony orchestras such as the St. Petersburg State Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bremer Philharmoniker, with whom she has also recorded Rachmaninov's second piano concerto.

Violetta's discography includes a solo album featuring works by Schumann and Kirchner, as well as the album "Fugenpassion" which showcases fugues by prominent composers like Beethoven, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Schumann, Franck, Szymanowski, and Taneyev. She received her education at the Rimsky‐Korsakov State Conservatory of St. Petersburg and the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Currently, she holds teaching positions at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater 'Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy' Leipzig and the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
