Walton / Smyth / Elgar / Rakitina: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano

About the Event

The British tradition of composition boasts a rich, illustrious history, evolving into an exceptional musical school with the likes of Purcell, Gibbons, and the 'adopted' Handel. From the Edwardian influences of the skilled Elgar, whose Enigma Variations in 1899 solidified his renown as a cherished English composer, to William Walton, known for his brilliantly entertaining Façade Suite, and Ethel Smyth, whose Concerto for the unique pairing of horn and violin represents one of her later works. Accompanying us on this Channel‐crossing journey is Anna Rakitina, conductor and recipient of the prestigious European Culture Award 2025.
