Uwe Scholz would have celebrated his 60th birthday on 31 December 2018. Maintaining the legacy of this choreographer — who died too soon — is one of the main objectives of the Leipzig Ballet. And in doing so, they help to keep alive the memory of this exceptional artist.
The internationally sought‐after choreographer Uwe Scholz worked here after his engagement as ballet director and chief choreographer at the Zurich Ballet and shaped the period following the reunification of this company. Titles like 'The Creation', 'The Great Mass' or 'Pax questuosa' mean this. Many of Uwe Scholz's colleagues at the Leipzig Opera House are still closely related today. Last but not least, the work of Mario Schröder's choreographer, the current ballet director and principal choreographer of the Leipzig Ballet and close friend of Uwe Scholz', is constantly developing. The Leipzig Ballet honors Uwe Scholz with a gala.
