Ton Koopman & Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra: St. Matthew Passion

About the Event

After its first performances, the St. Matthew Passion was forgotten for nearly a century – which is difficult to believe, given that it is now one of the pillars of the oratorio repertoire. During this Easter season, Ton Koopman and the group he founded in 1979, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, perform Bach’s evocative work at the Salle Pleyel.

Koopman, a great interpreter of Bach, has among many other accomplishments recorded the complete cantatas. Among his invited soloists for this performance is Tilman Lichdi, considered one of the greatest in the role of the Evangelist.
