The Marriage of Figaro: Cape Town Opera

Opera lovers are in for a special treat this year as the stunning Artscape Opera House in Cape Town welcomes an array of today’s leading operatic talents. This October the city’s premier music venue will play host to a brand new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s great comic masterpiece, Le nozze di Figaro, presented by the Cape Town Opera and accompanied by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.

By turns mischievous, romantic, and frenetic, Le nozze di Figaro offers a maze of unexpected twists and turns, revelling in a plot thick with intrigue, mistaken identities, disguises, and deception. A biting social satire, the opera tells the story of a servant—the eponymous Figaro—who outwits his cruel master and foils his plan to have his way with the hero’s virgin bride on their wedding night.
