Tango Azul

About the Event

No less than 11 musicians and dancers on stage. The period is the turn of the 20th century, the place is a milonga, or tango bar, in Buenos Aires known as Tango Azul, where three pairs of dancers recount the most memorable events from their lives in their passionate language of the tango: The battle of the sexes, the search and the discovery, the conflict and the harmony, the separation and the union.

The stories told by this special production combining the elements of theatre and dance are enriched further by the songs of Patricia Nora. The band of musicians accompanying her is led by the famous bandonéon Luciano Jungman, supported by a guitar, clarinet, violin, piano and double bass – all played by great exponents of chamber music. The choreography is the work of Susanne Landua and Philippe Lizon, a former student of Béjart.
