Strauss' Fire Catastrophe: Dresden Music Festival
About the Event
Richard Strauss' remarkable work 'Feuersnot' premieres at the Dresdner Musikfestspiele with an authentic Strauss sound played on original instruments.
Strauss, who was disappointed with his hometown of Munich after his unsuccessful »Guntram«, had written a »little intermezzo against the theater«, as he himself labeled the Singgedicht or »Sung Poem« first performed in Dresden in 1901 under the baton of Ernst von Schuch – the beginning of Dresden’s Strauss tradition.
