Ronald Brautigam: Chopin's Second Piano Concerto at the Concertgebouw
About the Event
Join the acclaim for Dutch pianist Ronald Brautigam as he plays Chopin's Second Piano Concerto with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. Under the baton of young Polish conductor Krzysztof Urbanski, Chopin's music takes on a new life.
Complementing the Concerto, two of Smetana's symphonic poems from Má vlast or 'My homeland'. Each of the six poems that form the suite was conceived as an individual work, with its own story and flavor. The third, Sárka, tells the tale of the Maidens' War, whilst the most famous, Vltava, better known as 'The Moldau', traces the course of one of Bohemia's great rivers.
