Along with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Budapest native Iván Fischer and Maria João Pires perform Beethoven's dreamy, enveloping Fourth Concerto.

Sándor Veress's Threnos, composed in 1945, is a funereal work embroidering chords atop a typical Magyar scale. By contrast, Dvorak's popular Symphony No. 8 celebrates the marvels of nature as experienced by man.
