Philippe Jarousky & Le Concert de la Loge: Frauenkirche Dresden
About the Event
A wonderful concert with Philippe Jaroussky and Le Concert de la Loge in the Frauenkirche in Dresden.
Works from Christoph Willibald Gluck, Johann Adolph Hasse, Niccolò Jommelli, Josef Mysliveček und Tommaso Traetta.
»He is the best countertenor of our times,« wrote »Spiegel Online«, and the »Süddeutsche Zeitung« declared him the »radiant god of countertenors«: the singer in question is Philippe Jaroussky, whose career as a vocalist has been accompanied by accolades in the international press and numerous prestigious awards. Possessed of a unique voice which effortlessly commands high soprano ranges and virtuoso coloraturas, it is not just his technical perfection that astounds the listener, but first and foremost the ability to express all the music’s nuances. As if that were not enough, Jaroussky has also founded his own ensemble, begun conducting and founded his own academy for culturally disadvantaged musicians, an issue dear to his heart. Regarding his repertoire, Jaroussky is always on the lookout for forgotten musical treasures, as evidenced by his programme »Forgotten Arias«. Together with the ensemble Le Concert de La Loge led by Julien Chauvin, the countertenor presents resounding rarities by Gluck, Hasse, Jommelli, Mysliveček and Traetta, inviting his listeners to a concert evening full of discoveries.
