A newly commissioned piece by Fondazione ORT kicks off the concert under the baton of Diego Ceretta, wrapping up his third season as principal conductor. The piece is by Matteo Rubini, a 1987‐born composer who honed his craft in Bologna, Lyon, and Paris under the guidance of Ivan Fedele and Stefano Gervasoni. Rubini’s compositions, often teetering between gesture and sound, are characterized by pronounced formal tension and keen timbral sensitivity, enriched by instrumental practice.

Next on the program is Jacques Ibert's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra, penned in 1934. This piece is a virtuoso showcase of neoclassical flair, featuring a lyrical second movement and an ironically spirited finale. The soloist is Silvia Careddu, a flutist of global acclaim, formerly the principal flutist for the Berliner Philharmoniker, celebrated for her refined interpretation and clear, decisive sound.

Closing the concert is Symphony No. 2 in D major op. 73 by Johannes Brahms, crafted in the summer of 1877. Known for its serene and luminous qualities, this symphony also carries darker undertones and is frequently labeled as Brahms's most 'pastoral' symphony.
