noisenight115: vulva voce at The Jago Dalston
About the Event
Vulva Voce highlight the music and stories of women across the centuries, from Renaissance madrigals to African‐American Romanticism and contemporary classical.
the venue:
The Jago is a renowned arts and culture venue in the renovated buildings of the Hackney Gazette printing press.
Their eclectic programme of music, art, workshops and community work relects the diverse cultures of the local Dalston community. It's also a special venue for us, as it's just round the corner from through the noise HQ.
the music:
Vulva Voce presents a programme highlighting the music and stories of women across the centuries, from Renaissance madrigals to African‐American Romanticism and contemporary classical. They'll also perform their own compositions and arrangements, inspired by the sound worlds of folk, jazz, and techno.
vulva voce:
Vulva Voce is an all‐female genre‐defying string quartet that brings exciting, dynamic performances of music composed by women and underrepresented voices to spaces beyond the concert hall. Their mission is to break away from long held conventions of classical music and the string quartet, presenting audiences with radical and refreshing musical experiences.
