About the Event

Mendelssohn and Berlioz toured the picturesque ruins of Rome together in 1831; the concerto and the symphony on this enchanting program date from the time their composers spent in the Eternal City.

The program will begin with a new work by Qigang Chen, one of Messiaen's last students, and will fill the evening with the surprising, mysterious, and lively colors of three particularly inventive orchestrators.
