On this highly‐anticipated Mozart day, hear the mellifluous sounds of Mozart's great compositions at Budapest's treasured and world‐renowned Liszt Academy.

Mozart's music is immortal, always exciting, sublime and playful at the same time, full of tension and balance. It has the power to touch us all, regardless of our age. András Keller is very aware of this quality, as this is the fifth time he has organised Mozart Day with Concerto Budapest at the Liszt Academy. As he pointed out in a recent interview, 'the purpose of Mozart Day is 'only' to make us all happy with this wonderful and inexhaustible musical source'. And indeed, no further preparations are necessary for this spring Sunday, when we will have the opportunity to pick from a generous selection of Mozart's compositions. We will hear, among others, his 'great' C minor Mass (which Mozart inexplicably did not complete), the crème de la crème of his symphonies, concertos and chamber pieces. Of course, there will also be the children's programme presented by Izabella Simon. In addition to the musicians of the orchestra, Hungarian conductors such as György Vashegyi, one of the leading representatives of historically informed performance practice, and Gábor Takács‐Nagy, who is particularly attached to Mozart's music, will also be heard.

Liszt Academy Concert Center

The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music was founded in 1875 by Liszt himself, and was initially called the Royal National Hungarian Academy of Music. Today, the building is home to a prestigious conservatory and fine concert hall, and houses the Liszt Collection, comprising the composer’s manuscripts and books. The institution's dual objective — to provide cultural education and cultural entertainment — makes it unique.

The 'New Academy' is located in a grand Art‐Nouveau building dominated by the statue of Liszt, one of Budapest’s architectural gems. The season offers not only classical concerts, but also jazz, folk, and contemporary music performances.
