Mikis Theodorakis: Birthday Concert with Maria Farantouri

Maria Farantouri has been called the "ideal performer" of Mikis Theodorakis' compositions. She comes to Berlin for the composer's 90th birthday to celebrate with interpretations of his great works.

Mikis Theodorakis is not only the best known Greek composer of the 20th century, he is also an author and politician. In Greece, he is celebrated as a hero. His movie scores for "Alexis Sorbas" and the setting to music of verses by Pablo Neruda's "Canto General" made him famous worldwide. Throughout his career he composed over 1000 works, amongst them songs and symphonic compositions.
