Premiered in 1905 under the direction of none other than Richard Strauss, Sibelius' Violin Concerto is considered one of the masterworks of 20th century violin repertoire. Maxim Vengerov is one of the few violinists authorized by Sibelius' heirs to perform the original version of the work. Dvořák's lyrical Symphony No. 8 in G major is also on the program of this exceptional evening.
